House Music – A Fast Growing Trend in the Music Industry

House music is a synthesized electronic type of dance music that first started showing up on the scene in the middle of the 1980s. House originated in Chicago and was first created by DJs in the clubs there. It is influenced by a variety of other types of music including funky dance and disco.
No one is really quite sure why this new type of music was called House, though. It may be related to one of the clubs in Chicago where it first started, which was named The Warehouse. Chicago was known for its warehouse parties popular with the underground culture of the Latino and Black gays near the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s.
Frankie Knuckles who was a DJ at The Warehouse combined synthesized pop music from Europe with other types of music including punk, disco, industrial and new wave and his unique type of music became known as House because of the name of the club.
An alternate theory on how House got its name comes from a musician named Larry Heard who says it is called that because the recording was done in people’s houses.
Many DJs in this time had the drums and synthesizers at home to be able to create this style of music. Another theory put out by a DJ named Chip E. is that it is named for the way it was recorded in music studios. No one really knows which of these theories is right.
Trends in Wedding Music

Trends come and go. Wedding dress designs come and fade out, so does wedding entertainment. Though the wedding entertainment may feature less prominently on the wedding budget, it is the part that the guests participate in most. They are actually made for them so every effort must be made to get it right. There are many ways to entertain your guests and these are determined by the season, year and trends. These days, especially in the year 2009, many wedding forms of wedding entertainment have come about. Now more and more couples are going for non-traditional means of entertainment for their guests. Here are the new ways couples are going about their reception music.
Many couples are going for vintage weddings and accordingly playing 30s to 60s music at their weddings. Instead of DJs with high tech DVDs and combos, you have an orchestra or symphony doing classics.
In an extreme case, a couple played music from their iPod and after exhausting their music, played tunes from that of their guests as well. The sound was amplified over a loudspeaker. A growing trend is to ask several bands to play. Each of these groups has their specialty so multiple bands bring a sort of variety to the wedding so they can please a wide range of guest profiles.
Trends in Music: 2011

From the crooning jazz tunes of the 1920s to the hip-hop and punk movements of the 80’s, each era brings with it a unique brand of trends and developments which shape the music world. For modern music, certain trends in music and music distribution are worth noting due to their cultural influence and lasting power. Here, we’ll take a look at some of the top trends in music for 2011.
Female artists are making their voices known. The past few years have been huge for some of the biggest female names in music, including Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Katy Perry, as well as Adele and Florence Welch from the UK. As opposed to 2010, when artists like Rihanna and Hayley Williams only served as vocalists for male rappers and bands, pop, hip-hop, and indie have seen their fair share of talented female artists singularly taking center stage in 2011.
This trend is expected to continue as new female artists continue to experience increases in popularity thanks to popular singles, such as Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” and Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F).”
The convergence of technology. Smart phones, tablets, laptops, iPods, and other high-tech products are making their presence known in our everyday lives, and one of the ways this is happening is through the convergence of technology and social media. Publishing, television, entertainment, and social networking are converging into applications that are finding their ways onto smart phones, iPads, and countless other products in an effort to streamline services for the modern user, a trend which is steadily incorporating music distribution across the globe.
Music Trends

Music trends used to simply be confined to differing genres, but more and more musicians and singers are turning into one-man (or woman) industries with sideline projects bearing their name or influence, from perfumes to nightclubs to vanity film projects. However, the biggest sign that an artist has made it is their own fashion label.
With Madonna recently in the spotlight for her own Material Girl label, artists fashion ranges have never been a more necessary sign of achievement. However, this is not a new phenomenon and many pop stars are now simply jumping on very well established band wagon.
Urban clothing has accommodated hip hop artists fashion input for a number of years with numerous well known faces pioneering huge fashion houses in their own right. Some are well known and documented, naming their range with their own moniker, while others are more modest, running the company for the sake of the fashion as opposed to another attempt at self-promotion.
For instance, Jay-Zs clothing range Rocawear Clothing was formed in 1995 before he had even released a single album and has been run with the same ethos as it was started despite his rise to prominence. He has been quoted as saying that his brands are an extension of himself, and with urban clothing being all about individuality and personal reflection, this gives Rocawear clothing credibility that other stars lines might lack.
